Moms of Multiple Children, I Need Your Advice

Mitch and I have been looking to purchase a double stroller. Shudder. We were at Babies R Us this weekend getting a few odds and ends and tried the one we've been eyeing, the Chicco Cortina double stroller that would fit our infant car seat.

Babies R Us is currently running a special where if you bring in a piece of baby gear (high chair, stroller, car seat, etc.), you can get 25% off of a new purchase, which would make the cost of this ridiculously expensive stroller a little more manageable.

My question is this - how often did you use a single stroller (the one that you could put the infant seat into) after you had two kids? We currently have two strollers - one that came with our travel system that fits the infant seat, and an umbrella stroller. Could we do without our travel system stroller? Or would we regret trading it in?

Helmette Update

I'm starting my 22nd week today, and I'm really starting to feel (and look!) pregnant. For the most part, I've been feeling really good, but of course am tired by the end of the night. It's starting to get a little hard to pick Gizmo up because she's just so heavy, and unfortunately she's going through a clingy mom stage. But, Helmette is thriving and has started to kick and move around.

Here is my 20-week picture, which is NOT what I look like now- it's amazing how fast this little kid is growing.


Will she really be here in only 18 short weeks?

Helmut is now Helmette - she's a girl!

Our twenty-week ultrasound was today, and Mitch and I opted to find out the gender this time around in order to better prepare. I again was convinced that Helmut would be a boy, but it turns out that Mitch knows how to pick them when it comes to babies. His comment as we came out of the ultrasound room? "We need to start saving for their weddings today...."

My due date is now March 26. Only twenty more weeks until little Helmutte makes her debut!

Introducing....

.....the Baby #2 in-utero name.  Are you ready?

Because this is pretty awesome.

Here's the backstory.  

Mitch and I were laying in bed one night, and he was flipping through the baby name book in search of some new baby names to add to our foam board choosing index.  He was reading off names from the pages full of ethnic names - Italian, German, Swedish, etc.  Then he started to read names off the Polish list.  And out came the in-utero name.

Helmut.  

It's pronounced hel-mut, with the emphasis on "mut".  And it's glorious.  

Unless it's another girl.  

Baby #2 is In There!

I had my first ultrasound on Friday to make sure things were cooking just fine on #2. Baby's heart rate is normal, length is 3.16cm, and everything looks great! My official due date is March 25. My guess: April 4. Let's hope I'm wrong!
