Anyway, in the last few months our oven has not been working properly. We first noticed it on Thanksgiving (of all days), when the oven was not hot after the timer was re-started. We did get the turkey cooked and all was ok, but we kept an eye on it. In the last week, we noticed again that the oven was not holding its cooking temperature, and when we put the meat thermometer in it to test it, it was not even attaining its cooking temperature at all.
So, we had a guy come out and look at it on Tuesday. To repair the oven, it was going to cost about 2/3 of what a new oven costs.
On the to-do list for the weekend? Buy a new oven.
This morning, I got into my car like always, turned it on, put it in reverse, and started to back out of the garage. I had my hand on the garage opener and must have bumped it early, because as I backed out, I heard a huge grinding sound. To make a long story less painful, we are now buying a new garage door, to be installed on Tuesday next week. My car also has about $300 in damage.
Also on the to-do list? Not be a dumbass.
Let's hope the curse of "bad things happen in threes" doesn't continue at Fifty Below. I don't think our savings account can take much more.
